Shahid Nadeem Khan

Director, Playwright, and Executive Director, Ajoka Theatre

Shahid Nadeem is Pakistan’s leading playwright and director. He is currently Executive Director of Ajoka Theatre. He has been associated with Pakistan Television as a producer , General Manager, Director Programmes and Deputy Managing Director. Several collections of his plays have been published in Pakistan and India. His play 'Dara' was produced by National Theatre, London in 2015 and his telefilm, 'An Act of Terror' was nominated for Scottish BAFTA in 2009. He is also the writer of the critically acclaimed film, 'Manto' and several popular TV serials including 'Janjaalpura', 'Neelay Hath', 'Zard Dopehar', 'Uraan' and 'Airport'. Khan was Getty Institute’s International Scholar/International Pen Visiting International Writer in Los Angeles and Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellow at the National Endowment for Democracy Washington. He has been associated with Amnesty International as Campaign Coordinator at its International Secretariat in London and its Communications Officer in Hong Kong. He was conferred President of Pakistan’s Award for Pride of Performance (Arts) in 2009. He has been Professor and Head of Film and TV Programme at the Institute for Art and Culture, Lahore.
