Dr John Siraj-Blatchford

Early Childhood Education Expert, Founding Director Schema Play

Dr John Siraj-Blatchford is an independent educational researcher and consultant, and an executive member of OMEP UK, coordinating their Early Childhood Education for Sustainable Citizenship Award scheme. He was a founding director of Schema Play, a community interest company that aims to contribute towards improvement in the learning outcomes of disadvantaged young children, and minimise the gap in educational outcomes that are associated with socio-economic, cultural, and gender differences. Siraj-Blatchford was previously employed at the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education and served as an Associate Director of the Economic and Social Research Council's Teaching and Learning Research Programme. He was commissioned by UNESCO to co-author an ECCE review of the UNESCO Decade for Education for sustainable development, and chaired the ECCE for the sustainable development workshop at the 2015 UNESCO 'End of Decade' ESD Conference in Nagoya, Japan.
