Humayun Bashir Tarar

Senior Police Officer & Adviser, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office Project

Humayun Bashir Tarar is a senior officer with 25 years of experience in the Police Service of Pakistan and currently serves as an Adviser at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. Throughout his career, he has held significant roles, including as DIG Headquarters, Punjab, and Director of the Cyber Crime Wing at the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), where he led national efforts against online crimes, with a focus on protecting women and children, including combatting child sexual abuse. He also headed the Integrated Border Management System at the FIA and served as Police Chief in four major cities across Pakistan. Additionally, he was part of the team responsible for digitising work processes in the Punjab Police.

Mr Tarar holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford where he studied as a Chevening scholar. He was also a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow from Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University, USA, and a fellow at National Defense University (NDU), Washington D.C. His international experience includes time with the Syracuse Police Department in New York.
