Usama Khilji

Columnist, Researcher & Digital Rights Activist Director, Bolo Bhi

Usama Khilji is a columnist, researcher, and digital rights activist based in Islamabad, Pakistan. He serves as the Director of Bolo Bhi, a leading digital rights organisation, and as Vice Chair of the Global Network Initiative (GNI), a multistakeholder body dedicated to safeguarding freedom of expression and privacy within the business practices of global technology companies. He is also a member of the Carnegie Endowment’s Digital Democracy Network and has previously served on the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council.

Mr Khilji writes a regular column for Dawn and contributes to Al Jazeera English and Slate. His work centres on digital rights, freedom of expression, privacy, democracy, and the societal impact of technology.
