Asha Bedar

Clinical Psychologist

Dr Asha Bedar is a clinical psychologist, trainer, group facilitator and researcher with over 20 years of experience working with women, children, men, families, communities and professionals. Asha began her career in the NGO sector in Islamabad, with a focus on gender, gender-based violence and violence against children. She then went on to complete her PhD from the University of Melbourne in 2004 after which she has been working extensively on mental health issues related to gender, youth, children, journalists and vulnerable (including disaster-affected and displaced/refugee) communities both in Pakistan and Australia. Her current work includes counselling/therapy, capacity building, group-work, research, material development and project development on mental health, with a focus on gender issues, trauma, child abuse, violence against women and children, human rights and women’s leadership, life skills development, resilience and peace-education.
