Joanna Reid

Head, DFID Pakistan

Ms Joanna Reid has been Head of DFID Pakistan since December 2015 and manages DFID’s largest bilateral programme here. She was formerly head of DFID Sudan where she managed DFID’s humanitarian and development programmes in a challenging political environment. She has also served as head of DFID Somalia and DFID Yemen. Ms Reid’s early career was in Health Service Management in the National Health Service in Scotland, and latterly she was director of Corporate Development at a medium-sized general hospital. Her career in development began with Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) in China. Ms Reid joined DFID in 2001 and has worked in Bangladesh, where she ran a programme funding local health NGOs, India, where as Senior Health Adviser she worked on reproductive health and HIV/AIDS and Sierra Leone where she was Deputy Head of Office as well as regional Health Adviser covering Liberia as well as Sierra Leone. She returned to Sierra Leone for four months in 2014 to lead DFID’s response to Ebola.
