Academic, Musician / Assistant Professor, Lahore University of Management Sciences
Mr Taimur Rahman is an academic, musician and socialist political activist from Pakistan. He teaches various courses of Political Science at the Lahore University of Management Sciences. He is the band leader and spokesperson for the music band, ‘Laal’- known for singing socialist and progressive political songs, especially on the poetry written by leftist Urdu poets such as Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Habib Jalib. Mr Rahman uses ‘Laal’ as a medium to advance causes which he feels strongly about, such as socialism. He graduated from Grinnell College, obtained a Master’s degree from Sussex University and holds a PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies. He has also taught Economics at The Lahore School of Economics. Mr Rehman is the author of the book ‘The Class Structure of Pakistan’ published by Oxford University Press.
