Dr Mariam Chughtai

Director, National Curriculum Council, Federal Ministry of Education / Assistant Professor and Founding Associate Dean, LUMS School of Education

Dr Mariam Chughtai is Assistant Professor and founding Associate Dean at the Syed Ahsan Ali & Syed Maratib Ali School of Education at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Pakistan. She has a Doctorate in Education (EdD) from Harvard University specialising in Education Policy, Leadership, and Instructional Practice. Dr Chughtai is the recipient of the Georg-Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research Fellowship, Germany (2017) and the Babar Ali Fellowship at the Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute at Harvard University (2019). She is working on her forthcoming book on the politics of making and breaking identity through history textbooks in Pakistani schools. Her areas of interest for research include the politics of education, leadership, and entrepreneurship. Currently, Dr Chughtai is serving as Director, National Curriculum Council Secretariat at the Federal Government of Pakistan.
