Dr Nasir Abbas Nayyar currently teaches Urdu at Punjab University Oriental College Lahore. Dr Nayyar’s research interests include Modern and Postmodern Literary Theory, Linguistics, Modern Urdu Literature and Post-Colonialism. He did his PhD in the Influence of Western Criticism on Urdu Criticism from BZU, Multan. He was awarded Postdoctoral fellowship in 2011 by South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University, Germany. Dr Nayyar has published over a dozen books in Urdu. He is the author of the first book on post-colonial study of Urdu language and literature titled ‘Mabad Nau Abadiat: Urdu Kay Tanzur Mein’ published by Oxford University Press Karachi in 2013. This was followed by ‘Saqafti Shankht Aur Istemari Ijaradari’, a study of selected Urdu courses taught in Indian schools during the colonial period.
