Zebunnisa Burki

Zebunnisa Burki is a Karachi-based journalist, currently working as the deputy editor of the oped pages of the English daily, The News. Trained both as a journalist and a lawyer, she has worked in editorial positions for the past 15 years. Most of her initial years as a journalist were spent working with the South Asian Free Media Association, where she edited a quarterly journal aimed at understanding South Asia as a region. Zebunnisa also teaches Pakistan history, media studies and current affairs to undergraduate students in Karachi. In 2009, she co-founded the largest network of women journalists and media professionals in the SAARC region, South Asian Women in Media (SAWM). Zebunnisa is an alumnus of Kinnaird College Lahore and the London School of Economics.
