Syed Talat Hussain is a prominent figure in Pakistan's journalism landscape, with nearly three decades of experience across diverse domains, including conflict reporting, parliamentary and electoral politics, public policy discourse, and education. He has extensively covered conflict zones such as Afghanistan, and Kashmir, regions affected by Taliban insurgency, and also reported from countries like India, the UK, the USA, Central Europe, Japan, and the Middle East. Furthermore, he is a communication expert, well-versed in both fieldwork and training, with extensive involvement in various projects funded by organisations like the World Bank, EU, DFID, Ipsos, UNDP, IUCN, and GIZ. His work in these projects encompasses policy outreach, communication skill development, strategy design, and project audits. In addition to his impressive career, Hussain is also a published author. Notable works include 'Journalism Education in Pakistan: Problems and Solutions', co-authored with Martiz Loffelholz (1996), 'Clinton Administration’s Kashmir Policy', a contribution to 'Perspectives on Kashmir' edited by Dr K. F. Yusuf (1994), 'Pak-US Military Aid Relationship under Zia' featured in 'International Relations—a New Perspective' edited by Ayaz Naseem (1989), and a translation of the 'Human Development Report' for the Mehbub-ul-Haq Centre for Human Development in Islamabad (1998). Hussain also serves as the CEO of the Saach Foundation, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to philanthropic efforts in disaster-stricken areas. He participated in initiatives during the devastating floods of 2010 and has been actively involved in projects related to healthcare and the provision of clean drinking water.
