Maliha Zia Lari

Lawyer & Women’s Rights Activist

Maliha Zia is a lawyer, women’s rights activist, researcher, and trainer dedicated to advancing human rights through the legal system. Currently the Associate Director at the Legal Aid Society, she has practised as an Advocate in Islamabad and Karachi, focusing on leveraging law and the justice sector to protect human rights and eliminate violence against women and girls.

Throughout her career, Ms Lari has led, supported, and presented extensive research on human rights violations and gender-based violence, sharing her insights on both national and international platforms. She has contributed to several feminist publications, including her work on a Zubaan-IDRC project examining sexual violence and impunity, a chapter in ‘Feminism, Postfeminism, and Legal Theory: Beyond the Gendered Subject?’, and the forthcoming ‘Feminist Judgments Project, Pakistan.’

Her work blends gender issues with legal training tailored to the Pakistani context. Her experience as a trainer includes conducting sessions at the Sindh, Punjab, KP, and Federal Judicial Academies. Ms Lari olds an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), London.
