Dr Zahra Hoodbhoy

Physician & Associate Professor, Agha Khan University

Dr. Zahra Hoodbhoy is a physician and Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, Aga Khan University and has also worked in the US and Singapore. She has nearly a decade of experience in public health research, focusing on digital health, point-of-care technology, and AI for risk assessment to improve maternal and child health in low-resource settings. Dr. Hoodbhoy is a key member of the team designing a trial to test a locally produced micronutrient supplement for pregnant and breastfeeding women, with the goal of improving pregnancy outcomes and infant growth.

Her research portfolio consists of grants from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Islamic Development Bank’s Transform Fund, and University of North Carolina to name a few. Dr Hoodbhoy pursued her Master's in Health Education from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA and completed her PhD (Population and Public Health) at AKU in 2022.
