Dr Yaqoob Khan Bangash

Historian & Dean, Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences, IT University

Dr Yaqoob Khan Bangash is a historian of modern South Asia and serves as the Dean for Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, IT University, Lahore. He has taught at Forman Christian College (2011-15). His research interests lie in the emergence of Pakistan as a post-colonial state, with broader interests in decolonisation, modern state formation, identity formation, and the emergence of ethnic and identity-based conflicts across South Asia.

Dr Bangash’s first book, A Princely Affair: Accession and Integration of Princely States in Pakistan, 1947-55, was published by Oxford University Press in 2015. He has recently completed his second book, Between the Sword and the Pen: The History of the Lahore High Court.

From 2011 to 2015, Dr. Bangash taught at Forman Christian College, and he was a Fulbright Fellow from 2022 to 2023 at the Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute, Harvard University. He holds a BA from the University of Notre Dame, USA, and a DPhil from the University of Oxford.
