Roshaneh Zafar

Development Activist

Roshaneh Zafar, is a Pakistani development practitioner, founder and Managing Director of the Kashf Foundation. She is an internationally recognised leader in the field of women’s economic empowerment and has leveraged her expertise to exponentially grow her organisation over the past two and a half decades. Today, Kashf Foundation has grown from a mere fifteen female clients in 1996 to having over 750,000 active borrowers, all of whom are women. Zafar was awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, honoured as an Ashoka Fellow and named a Social Entrepreneur by the Schwab Foundation. She was also a member of the Prime Minister’s Taskforce on Austerity and Federal Government restructuring, and serves on the board of several institutions including the Finca Microfinance Bank, Kinnaird College, and Institute of Development and Economic Alternatives (IDEAS).
