Samina Baig

High-altitude Mountaineer

Samina Khayal Baig hails from Shimshal village in Hunza Gojal, Gilgit-Baltistan. She is a Pakistani high-altitude mountaineer who began climbing when she was merely four years old. Baig is the first Pakistani woman to scale Mount Everest (2013), the Seven Summits (by 2014), and K2 (2022) and was also the first to climb the peak Chashkin Sar (above 6,000 meters) in Pakistan in 2010, which was later renamed Samina Peak.
