Salman Alvi

Ghazal and Semi-classical Vocalist

Salman Alvi is an MBA from The Institute of Business Administration, Karachi, and has over 43 years of professional marketing experience, currently spearheading a leading marketing company in Pakistan. His musical interests were strong since childhood as he began playing musical instruments like banjo, harmonica, flute, accordion, and guitar at the age of four, and started performing at Radio Pakistan and on TV channels in the early 70s. He studied the eastern classical music under the tutelage of late Ustad Chand Amrohvi. He formed a pop music band named 'Raindrops' and has performed internationally. He has also hosted popular TV music shows including Bazm-e-Ghazal, Sur Zindagi Hai, Bazm-e-Mehdi Hassan, and Suron Ke Rung. Alvi released five music albums and 7 CDs of songs and ghazals. He received the Pride of Performance, and several other awards including the Pakistan Television Award, Gold Disc Award in 2000, and Best Ghazal Singer award 1985.
