Filmmaker & Poet
Ammar Aziz is a filmmaker and poet from Pakistan. He is a recipient of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) Award, among several other accolades. An alumnus of Berlinale Talents and Locarno Open Doors, Ammar has been selected for some of the most prestigious film festivals, including International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, Jean Rouch International Film Festival, and Moscow International Documentary Film Festival, in over a hundred countries. His poetry, published in various international literary journals, has appeared and forthcoming in several global anthologies. Through his work as an activist, he has been closely associated with the labour movement in the country. He is the co-founder of SAMAAJ, a cultural non-profit organisation, using creative mediums to advocate for an equitable and inclusive society, with an emphasis on gender equality and freedom of expression.
