Dr Nawal Salahuddin

Director, Covid Unit, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases

Nawal Salahuddin graduated with an MBBS from the Aga Khan University Karachi and completed training in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary/ Critical Care medicine from West Virginia University. She then returned to the Aga Khan University where she worked as clinical and academic faculty. After 11 years in Pakistan, she relocated to Saudi Arabia where she worked as a consultant at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre. She was Director of the medical ICU and served as chairperson on a number of administrative committees. She then returned to Pakistan to join the National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease as Professor in Critical Care Medicine, where she is also the director of the training programme and academic faculty at the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. She is current Director of the COVID unit and recently received the Ladies Fund Award for her services in Critical Care during the pandemic.
