Rashid Rana

Leading Artist & Dean, School of Visual Arts & Design, BNU

Rashid Rana, one of the leading artists of his generation in South Asia today, is known for conceptual innovation and visual strategies. His works are in prestigious collections including the British Museum (London), Fukuoka Museum of Art (Japan) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York). He is the recipient of the 2017 Game Changer Asia Art Award, Sitara-i-Imtiaz, and International Artist of the Year by SAVAC Canada in 2003.

Mr Rana mediates between artist, curator, educator and visionary with a common thread of an unfixed and non-prescriptive view of geography and identity. His commitment to transdisciplinary collaboration and his drive to push creative boundaries made him the ideal choice for his recent appointment as the Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair on Inclusion through Art. He is currently the Dean of the Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts and Design at Beaconhouse National University, Lahore.
