Dr Athar Osama

CEO, STEMx and Technomics International

Dr Athar Osama is a science and innovation policy adviser and researcher, and the founder and CEO of Pakistan Innovation Foundation (PIF), World Science Collaborative Ltd., and STEMx. He is the co-founder of PakGPT, a platform to promote positive use of AI in education in Pakistan. He also founded and is Managing Partner of INNOVentures Global, an innovation consultancy and ventures platform. Previously Dr Osama was member (S&T and ICT) of the Planning Commission, a principal science advisor to the Government of Pakistan, and Chair of the Grand Challenges Fund at the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan. He spearheaded the creation of national centres on AI, robotics, cybersecurity, big data and cloud, genomics, applied mathematics, space, and nano science and technology in Pakistan. He is a Fellow of the New York-based World Technology Network (WTN) and a Young Global Leader for the World Economic Forum (WEF). Dr Osama holds a PhD in public policy from the Pardee RAND Graduate School in Santa Monica, CA and has a Bachelors degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Pakistan Airforce Academy where he won the 'Sword of Honor'.
