Sana Mir

Captain, Pakistan National Women`s Cricket Team

Ms Sana Mir is the Captain of the National Women's Cricket Team. She learnt cricket in the streets as a young girl. Since 2009, Ms Mir has led her team to two gold medals in the Asian Games (2010 and 2014), their first tournament win in a quadrangular series in Sri Lanka in 2011 and their highest world ranking. Her career also boasts T20 wins over India and England and a 4-wicket haul in World XI. In 2011, as a result of this success, the Pakistan Cricket Board offered contracts to its female players. Ms Mir was awarded a Category A contract and in the process became one of the first semi-professional female cricketers in Pakistan. In 2012, she also became the first female cricketer to be awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.
