Tahira Syed is one of Pakistan’s finest singers, celebrated globally for over four decades for her mastery of geet, ghazal, and nazm. She is classically trained under three masters of Hindustani Sangeet: Ustad Akhtar Hussain, her mother Malika Pukhraj, and Ustad Nazar Hussain. This training shaped her deep understanding of raag, taal, voice culture, and the nuanced use of alankaar. With a repertoire that spans Urdu, Punjabi, Dogri, Persian, Hindi, and Saraiki poetry, her performances are known for their emotional depth, musical sophistication, and captivating stage presence.

A law graduate who also studied English literature, Tahira has appeared on the cover of National Geographic and performed extensively on television and stage around the world. Her many accolades include the PTV Lifetime Achievement Award, the Nigar Award, and Pakistan’s highest civil honor, the Pride of Performance.
