Saim Sadiq

Filmmaker

Saim Sadiq is a Pakistani filmmaker. His 2022 debut feature film, Joyland, was the first Pakistani feature to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival as an official selection, where it won the Jury Prize (Un Certain Regard). The film also premiered at Sundance and the Toronto International Film Festival, was shortlisted for Best International Film at the Oscars, and won the Independent Spirit Award for Best International Film. His earlier short film, Darling, won Best Short Film at the 76th Venice Film Festival. He was named one of Variety magazine’s “10 Directors to Watch” in 2023.

Mr Sadiq is currently working on his next two feature films.

He holds a BSc. Hons in Anthropology from LUMS and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Filmmaking from Columbia University.
