Anya Raza

Award-winning Writer, Filmmaker & Economist

Anya Raza is an award-winning Pakistani-Dutch writer, filmmaker, and economist whose work blends art, justice, and social impact. She is best known for her films On The Mountain (2024), Still Here (2022), and How She Moves (2020), and brings over a decade of experience in storytelling that amplifies quieter voices and explores themes of freedom of expression, equal rights, economic empowerment, and humanitarian issues.

Her films have premiered at more than 40 festivals worldwide, earning multiple accolades including the 2025 CILECT Fiction Award. Ms Raza`s work has been featured on leading platforms such as PBS, Forbes, Al-Jazeera, Volkskrant, and Arab News.

She holds an MA in Film & Media Production from American University and an MSc in Economics from the University of Amsterdam. She is a Quiet Fellow, a Kiva Fellow, and an active member of the Video Consortium, Brown Girl Doc Mafia, and Auratnaak.
