Dr Muhammad Ali

Vice Chancellor, University of the Punjab

Dr Muhammad Ali (SI, TI) is the Vice Chancellor of the University of the Punjab since September 2024. With 37 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration, he is recognised as one of Pakistan’s leading educationists and science scholars.

He has previously served as Vice Chancellor of several prominent universities, including Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan; Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad, Government College University (GCU, Lahore and Faisalabad; Ghazi University, DG Khan; and the University of Jhang. A recipient of multiple honours, Dr Ali has been awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (2015) and the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (2022) for his contributions to higher education. He has published over 235 research papers, supervised more than 135 postgraduate students, and authored two international books.

Dr Ali holds a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Wales, UK, and completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Missouri, USA.
