Zehrish Khanzadi

Activist & Programme Manager, Gender Interactive Alliance

Zehrish Khanzadi is a committed activist and programme manager with Gender Interactive Alliance (GIA), where she advocates for transgender rights and community support. Her journey began as a student, challenging stigma and discrimination faced by transgender individuals in schools and workplaces. Serving as Joint Secretary at GIA Foundation in Karachi, she has played a vital role in HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness initiatives. Her experience includes roles with the Khawaja Sira Society, Infection Control Society of Pakistan, and Diva Academy, where she provided support to children with Down syndrome.

A trained public speaker, Ms. Khanzadi represents GIA in media and conducts training sessions in leadership, public speaking, and advocacy. She has been instrumental in raising awareness about transgender issues through media campaigns and international consultations. Recognizing the need for financial support, she established partnerships with national and international NGOs, securing critical resources for the community, especially during the COVID-19 lockdown.

In 2021, her organisation signed an MOU with Greenwich University, granting full scholarships to transgender students. A member of the Pakistan People's Party (PPPP), Ms. Khanzadi has been nominated as a Town Councillor for the Safoora Town Municipal Corporation. She holds a Commerce degree from Karachi University.
