Kim Insley

Associate Professor, University College London

Kim Insley is an Associate Professor (Teaching) with responsibility n a number of leadership roles within the IOE. Her work is within the Department of Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment, and she is also the Programme Lead for the MA and Graduate Diploma in Advanced Educational Practice, which has included leading school-based master’s provision in a number of London Schools. Insley supports individual students to the MA and also leads an online programme through the University of London, which uses innovative online and distance learning pedagogies to support in-service professional development for teachers in international settings. Insley was the lead for Innovation and Enterprise within her department from 2018 to 2022, which involved strategic development of consultancy and professional development work. Pre-Covid, she led teacher education projects involving consultancy and professional development in different international settings which have included Armenia, China, Dubai, Ghana, India, Jordan, Myanmar, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Starting out her career as a primary teacher, Insley has previously worked at other Higher Education institutions, including the Open University as a tutor and lecturer. Until 2008, she focused on working within primary and early years teacher education and continues to lead research within the MA on primary education, mathematics and music education.
