Zachary Alan Chase
Zachary Alan Chase loves learning. For 8 years Zac taught 8-12 grade students English in Sarasota, Florida and then in Philadelphia at the project-based, inquiry-driven Science Leadership Academy. He’s worked with teachers nationally through the Freedom Writers Foundation as an original Freedom Writer Teacher, and internationally in South Africa and Kenya with Education Beyond Borders. He is driven to investigate the role and importance of creativity, improvisation, and care in teaching and learning.
Zac earned his Master of Education in Education Policy and Management in 2012 from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and his Bachelor of Arts in 2003 from Illinois State University. Zac has written for the Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy and co-wrote and edited the New York Times Bestseller Teaching Hope. Zac writes regularly at autodizactic.com and has performed improvisational comedy for the last 14 years. He began his doctoral studies in Fall 2012 at the University of Colorado – Boulder with a focus on anti-bullying legislation and its effects on students in the classroom.
